Florida Gators pick up 6-9 forward Schuyler Rimmer

Schuyler Rimmer may not be the highest-rated prospect to commit to Billy Donovan?s 2013 recruiting class, but he?s probably the most excited.

The 6-foot-9 power forward committed to Florida, joining five-star prospects in point guard Kasey Hill and forward Chris Walker. Rimmer is rated a three-star prospect by most recruiting services.

?It?s been a dream of mine, ever since I was a kid,? Rimmer told The Gainesville Sun of his commitment. ?Both of my parents went to Florida. Growing up in the state, I was a huge Gator fan, I remember the back-to-back national championship seasons, watching coach Donovan. I knew if I had the opportunity that?s where I would want to play.?

Rimmer chose the Gators over offers from Miami, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Boston College, according to the newspaper.

Last season at Boone High School in Orlando, Rimmer averaged 16.4 points, 13.1 rebounds and 2.8 blocks.

?Kasey, being from Orlando, we?ve played against each other since middle school,? Rimmer told The Sun. ?Chris has come on the travel-league scene more recently. Coming in with a class like that, it?s just an opportunity to get better. Going against guys like Chris Walker, Will Yeguete, Patric Young, if he stays, it?s only going to make me a better player.?
