Best Kids Parties: Arts & Crafts My Party | Apartment Therapy

Name: Grace (3)
Location: Illinois

Color, paint and play as we celebrate Grace's 3rd birthday. Arts and crafts was the theme of the party from start to finish.

The painter's palette invitation was homemade using paint samples from Home Depot and a set of paint brushes from the dollar store. I loved the thought of mailing something, in addition to the invitation, that would get the kids excited about the party. Believe it or not, each invitation arrived intact, paint brush included. We carried the painter's palette theme through to the cake (or in this case cupcakes). This idea was inspired from All You.

The crafting table had everything a budding artist would need to create masterpieces. I raided Hobby Lobby for $1 wooden wands and $2 wooden trains for each guest to paint. I covered the table in brown packaging paper (from the Dollar Store) and then drew on it a picture frame for each place setting.

We also provided each guest with their own personalized crafting apron from Quilt from the Heart (an Etsy shop) which made the aprons and embroidered the names adding that personalized touch.

What better craft than a coloring book page of each guest. I found an amazing tutorial on Photojojo that walked me through the process. I'll admit, it was time consuming BUT being able to create a gallery wall with each guest was a huge hit.

In addition to sending each guest home with their own crafting apron and color book page, I also made crayons in the shape of letters. I spelled each guests name out of crayon letters and then took a picture of the name (in crayon) and created a gift tag in word.

But my favorite feature of this party was the "Happy Birthday Grace" on the front of our stairs. It was not only a great way for our guests to know they arrived at the correct place BUT it also made a perfect photo area. I made these using my Silhouette machine and their black vinyl.

Thanks Amy! Readers, see much more of this party on While Wearing Heels.
